Minor girl ‘raped’ in Dhaka

A seven-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a youth in Jatrabari area of Dhaka today.

Police arrested the youth named Najimuddin, 28, owner of a five-storey building in North Kajla area in connection with the incident, Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Najimuddin raped the child after taking her from a nearby field, where she was playing, to the rooftop of his building, the police official said adding that the victim’s family stays at a rented house near Najimuddin’s building.

Later, police arrested Najimuddin in connection with the incident.

The child is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
