Medical students want arrest of bus driver

The students of Dhaka National Medical College yesterday issued another 24-hour ultimatum to the authorities concerned to arrest the bus driver whose reckless driving killed their fellow Sadia Hasan.

The demonstrators freed Ray Saheb Bazar intersection in the old part of Dhaka around 12:40pm after police assured them of arresting the culprit soon. During the half-an-hour blockade, four roads connected in the intersection went completely standstill. To check such incidents, the students demanded that the authorities carefully check the eligibility of bus drivers, and double speed breaker be launched before the college. They demonstrators, including  Md Abul Bashar, the college principal, also demanded that Johnson road be renamed as Sadia Sharani .

Sadia, 23, a fifth-year student of the college, was killed after a bus rammed the CNG-run auto-rickshaw she and her mother were in on Saturday.
