Students seeking admission into public medical colleges demonstrated in different parts of the country yesterday demanding that they be allowed to sit for the test again.

They alleged that the questions of the test, held on Friday, were leaked the night before and circulated on social networking sites.

At a human chain formed in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital, the demonstrators also demanded the authorities concerned cancel the test.

The demonstrators, holding up posters, claimed some candidates got the leaked questions in exchange for money on Thursday night, while others received them in the morning of the exam day.

A number of aspirants called The Daily Star seeking help.

A candidate from Rangpur said, "When I entered the examination hall, I heard about the leak from some of the candidates. I got the questions from some of my friends after the test."

"Many of the meritorious students will be denied admission because of this leak. We have studied hard for this test, but all our hard work and effort will be in vain," the candidate added.

Another candidate from Rajshahi said, "Once the results are out, we would not be able to do anything."

A group of aspirants organised a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in this regard. The issue also triggered a firestorm in the social networking sites.

Our Barisal correspondent reports, candidates and guardians demonstrated in the city alleging that the question paper of the test was leaked, and demanding a rerun of the exam.

Reading out a statement at a human chain in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall, candidate Rahat Khan said leaked questions swarmed Facebook, Viber, and WhatsApp before the exam.
