Media Fellowship 2019: Star journo among 15 awardees

Fifteen journalists were awarded “Media fellowship 2019” for reporting on population control and health issues at a programme.

The Information, Education and Motivation (IEM) unit of the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) awarded the fellowship under a memorandum of understanding with Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

The event was held at the DGFP office in Karwan Bazar.

Moudud Ahmmed Sujan of The Daily Star, Mansura Hossain of Prothom Alo, Naznin Munni of Ekattor TV, Alamin Khan of Rtv, blogger Enayet Shaon and Unmad Magazine Cartoonist Arif Iqbal are among the awardees.

A total of 39 candidates had applied for the programme. Of them, 15 were nominated for the three-month fellowship. Each of the awardees received Tk 1 lakh as honorarium upon successful completion of the fellowship.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque handed over the awards to the winners. Shaikh Yusuf Harun, secretary of health education and family welfare division of the ministry; Kabir Ahmed Khan, general secretary of DRU; Kazi AKM Mohiul Islam, director general of DGFP, and other ministry officials were also present at the event.
