Massive drives conducted by Ctg cops, 481 arrested

As a part of countrywide drives, police arrested 481 persons, including 24 Jamaat-Shibir activists, in Chittagong district early yesterday.

Muhammad Naimul Hasan, ASP (special branch) of the district, told The Daily Star that 22 Jamaat-Shibir activists were arrested in Satkania upazila while two Jamaat men in Sitakunda upazila.

A locally made gun, two pistols and six bullets were seized from the two, he said. “All of them are accused in different cases filed for carrying out vandalism and destructive activities in the upazilas,” said Naimul.

Moreover, police arrested 364 accused in different cases. The remaining 93 accused were arrested in different cases of which trial are going on.
