Gonojagoron Mancha

March towards Myanmar embassy Monday

Gonojagoron Mancha, a pro-liberation platform, will lay siege to the Myanmar embassy in Bangladesh on Monday if the Myanmar government does not stop what it termed “genocide” on Rohingyas by that day.

It also urged the Myanmar government to take back its citizens from Bangladesh within that time period, said a press release.

The Mancha, led by its spokesperson Imran H Sarkar, announced the programme at a protest rally in the capital's Shahbagh yesterday afternoon.

Earlier, a procession marched from Shahbagh to Bangla Motor and ended at Shahbagh via TSC intersection of Dhaka University.

Announcing the programme, Imran said unless their demands are met by Monday, they would start a procession towards the Myanmar embassy from Gulshan-2 intersection at 3:00pm on that day.

Bangladesh has to consider both humanitarian situation and its national security while tackling the Rohingya crisis, Imran said. At the same time, diplomatic efforts have to be continued, he added.
