Management Body Polls Female teacher beaten up, hospitalised

A senior female schoolteacher has been hospitalised for three days after she was beaten up allegedly over a dispute with a president candidate of the school management committee election on Wednesday.

Bilkis Sultana, a teacher of Katakhali Omar Ali High School in Trishal, is undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

She alleged that brother of Shafiqul Islam, the president aspirant, had an altercation with her and started punching her in the presence of Shafiqul as she did not support him after she came out of a meeting at the upazila secondary education office over the election on Wednesday. Shafiqul Islam, who was later elected the president, however, denied the allegation. Trishal Police OC Moniruzzaman said they will take action after a case is filed.
