Man kills brother over trifle matter

A man allegedly hacked his younger brother to death as the latter asked him to lower music sound in a grocery shop in Rangpur city on Friday.

The dead is Reazul Islam, 40, son of Azam Khan in the city's Arazi-Dharmadash.

Moznu Mia, sub-inspector of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station, said Reazul and his elder brother Amzad Hossain ran two adjoining grocery shops individually, and Amzad used to play music loudly, which often irked Rezaul. As Rezaul asked his elder brother to lower the sound, Amzad got angry and attacked him.

Though locals dissuaded Amzad from attacking his brother once, he accompanied by members of his in-laws swooped on Rezaul again and hacked him mercilessly around 11:45pm, said witnesses.

The locals rescued and rushed him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he died.

Police detained Amzad's wife Peyari Begum and his relative Monwara Begum -- for interrogation, said ABM Zahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station. A murder case was filed. Amzad is on the run.
