Man jailed for gold smuggling in Ctg

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a man to six-year rigorous imprisonment in a gold smuggling case.

It also fined Md Hossain, 37, son of Ali Nawab of Chouddogram in Comilla, Tk 10,000 in default of which he would have to serve three more months in jail.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police arrested Hossain, an expatriate in Dubai, with 37 gold bars worth Tk 18,500,000 near Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong on May 12, 2012, said  Md Fakhruddin Ahmed, public prosecutor.
