Man held for ‘marrying 5 women posing as magistrate’
Police today arrested a fake magistrate who reportedly cheated five women by marrying them and attempted to marry several others posing himself as a BCS admin cadre in Dhaka.
Kauser Alam, 30, son of Abul Kashem from Comilla, was arrested in Hazaribagh area, Abdulla Hill Kafi, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) (Dhanmondi zone), told The Daily Star.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided his rented house at Hazi Afsar Uddin Lane and arrested him around 1:00pm, the police official said. Police also recovered his fake identity cards and other papers.
Till now, he has married five women posing as a magistrate. He used to tell his wives’ families that he became magistrate after qualifying 35th BCS and was posted at Hazaribagh DC office, Kafi further said.
His latest victim was a student of Dhaka University International Relations (IR) department.
