Maj Gen (retd) MI Karim passes away

Maj Gen (retd) MI Karim, founder of Vantage Group of Companies, passed away at a hospital in the capital yesterday. He was 94.

MI Karim, also known as Bacchu Karim to his friends and admirers, graduated from the Indian Military Academy. After being repatriated from Pakistan in 1973, he retired from the Bangladesh Army and founded Vantage Group, said a press release.

He left behind three daughters, grandchildren, and a host of well-wishers.

MI Karim was a man of many achievements, from being a celebrated general in service to his country to a devout Muslim, his relatives said.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at Gulshan Azad mosque after Asr prayers yesterday.

His qulkhwani will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday, at “Criterion, the Address”, Plot No. 5, Road No. 2 in Gulshan-1.

His friends, well-wishers and relatives are requested to attend the programme.
