Two suspected militants named Anas alias Anis, 20, of Noakhali and Rony, 23, of Chapainawabganj, fled the hideout sensing presence of law enforcers, he said at a briefing after concluding the drive for today.

A bomb disposal unit will defuse the explosives tomorrow, he said adding that the section 144 imposed around the hideout will remain active until the ‘Operation Strike Out’ ends.

Police surrounded the house since 4:30 pm on Wednesday suspecting that some suspected militants were hiding there with explosives, said Abdullah Al Mamun, additional superintendent (South) of police in Comilla.

Earlier in the day, A SWAT team joined the law enforcers to conduct the operation, a local stringer reports quoting Inspector Sadiqur Rahman of Comilla Sadar police.

All residents of the adjacent houses were evacuated following the drive.
