Labour court clears way for holding BFUJ election

A labour court in Dhaka yesterday cleared the way for holding the election of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).

Chairman of the First Labour Court Dr Shahjahan Saju passed the order following a petition filed by Mollah Jalal, a president candidate of BFUJ polls, seeking withdrawal of a stay order.

On July 5, the court stayed the election scheduled for July 6 as two candidates -- Khairul Alam and Sebika Rani -- filed a case, alleging that 26 people were excluded from the voters' list and 200 were not given membership.
