Kabir new UNFICYP force commander

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Maj Gen Mohammad Humayun Kabir of Bangladesh as United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) force commander.

The announcement came yesterday, according to UN Information Centre in Dhaka. Kabir will succeed Maj Gen Kristin Lund of Norway, who is the first female force commander in the UN and will complete her assignment on July 29.
