Justice Bazlur Rahman laid to rest

A holiday was observed yesterday at both the Appellate and High Court divisions of the Supreme Court in honour of Justice Mohammad Bazlur Rahman and Justice JN Deb Choudhury.

Justice Bazlur Rahman, a sitting judge of the Appellate Division, who was popularly known as “Chhanabhai” while he was a student leader at Rajshahi University, and Justice JN Deb Choudhury, a sitting judge of the High Court Division, died of cancer Sunday and last December 15 respectively.

Yesterday, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha declared the holiday for the judicial functions after attending the namaz-e-janaza of Justice Bazlur Rahman at the SC..

Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports, Justice Bazlur was buried at his family graveyard at Khalghat in the town after another janaza at Khalghat Central Eidgah. People from all walks of life including Justice Iqbal Kabir took part in it.
