2 JU students killed in Savar road crash

Two Jahangirnagar University (JU) students were killed as a bus hit a human hauler on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, early today.

Deceased Nazmul Hasan Rana, 24, was student of marketing department, and Arafat, 24, was student of microbiology of the university, reports our JU correspondent.

Both Rana and Arafat were third year students and residents of Al Beruni Hall of the JU, the correspondent said.

The accident took place when Rana and Arafat were returning to the campus from a mosque in Savar around 5:00am, said Mahbub Morshed, assistant proctor of the university.

Rana died on the spot while Arafat succumbed to his injuries at Savar Enam Medical College Hospital nearly eight hours after he was admitted to the hospital, the proctor added.
