JU gets highest number of applications in its history

Jahangirnagar University in its history of undergraduate admission has received the highest number of applications for 2017-18 academic session.

A total of 3,17,540 applications were received against 1,986 seats under six faculties and three institutes, said Abu Hasan, deputy registrar (education-1) of JU.

Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique said this is by far the highest number of applications.

Some 150 admission seekers will compete for one seat as around 2,98,000 applicants have paid the test fees, said officials.

The application process started on August 20 and ended on September 21 while process for the test fee payment ended yesterday.

According to JU authorities, 1,99,028 applications were received in 2016-17 academic session and 2,26,572 in 2015-16.

The admission test will start on October 8.
