Joy Bangla Concert to rekindle historic March 7

The long awaited youth centric concert of the year, "Joy Bangla Concert", is set to take place at the Army Stadium in Dhaka on March 7.

Country's largest youth platform, under the auspices of Center for Research and Information (CRI), is organising the concert marking the date of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historical March 7, 1971 Speech, a press release said.

Leading bands Warfaze, Chircut, Arbovirus, Lalon, Cryptic Fate, Nemesis, Shironamhin and Shunno will perform at the concert.

In last two years, around 60,000 youths, altogether, enjoyed the concert participating in the venue while 90,000 watched on live-streaming and millions watched on prominent TV channels.

Thousands of spirited youths will gather at the stadium to recall the day, and celebrate independence with Bangla rock music.

Joy Bangla Youth Award:

In addition to this initiative, Young Bangla also launched two separate schemes-Joy Bangla Youth Award, a move to identify, recognise, showcase, connect and support the champions of change through a comprehensive search.

Launched in 2015, a total of 30 Young Bangla members got the award. Out of a staggering 1,500 applications, another 170 were given special recognition and certificates for their contribution.

The award is preceded by a process of rigorous physical scrutiny of applications and success stories of Young Bangla members.

This year, Young Bangla is planning to organise the second edition of the Award and the process for inviting applications from Young Bangla members will start very soon.

Vision 2021 internship

Under another scheme, Vision 2021 internship, for the first time, in the country's history, opportunities are opened up for youths to do internship at different ministries for achieving real governmental experiences.

Since the inception in June 2016, Young Bangla has so far arranged jobs, career trainings and internships for nearly 5,000 of its members.

Now the scope has been extended to private sector like Microsoft. As many as 350 students have already pursued their internship and were awarded with certificates.

Building 2 lakh IT skilled workforce

Another signature move undertaken by Young Bangla, in collaboration with ICT Division, a project has been laid out to train up around 2,10,000 school and college students across the country.

Titled as "Sheikh Russel Digital Lab", Young Bangla will place two coordinators and ten volunteers in each lab and supervise and monitor those till 2018.

As many as 24,000 volunteers, registered with Young Bangla, will get the training to engage in the lab activities, CRI said in the statement.

The training would also be held at district and city corporation levels till June.
