Journo Habibur Rahman Milon passes away

Veteran journalist and chairman of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), Habibur Rahman Milon died due to old-age complications at LabAid Hospital yesterday. He was 80.

An Ekushey Padak winner, he was an advisory editor of the Daily Ittefaq and also worked for the daily Sangbad, Dainik Paygam, Dainik Azad, and Dainik Bangla.

Born in 1935 in Brahmanbaria, he also received many other awards including Jatir Janok Award, Shaheed Suhrawardi Award, BFUJ Award and Barrister A Rasul Gold Medal.

He left behind his wife, a son, five daughters and will be buried in Martyred Intellectual graveyard after his daughter arrives from Australia today, family members said.

President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayer Anisul Huq and different organisations, including PIB and BFUJ, mourned his death.

In her condolence message, the PM recalled his active role in protesting the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and building a secular Bangladesh, UNB reports.
