Journalists illiterate, inefficient, corrupt

Ruling Awami League lawmaker RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury yesterday slammed journalists flatly terming them illiterate, inefficient and corrupt.

The Brahmanbaria district AL president said such people are appointed as journalists in media houses as the authorities do not find eligible persons.

He, however, claimed himself to be an honest, efficient and competent person.

The lawmaker was addressing an event of a private television channel in Brahmanbaria.

Almost all private TV channel owners are pro-AL, said Obaidul, adding that he does not see any wrong in it although they favour the government.

Obaidul said journalism is an easy way to become rich as it is a key medium to blackmail someone.
