Momtaz Parveen, the owner of “Jahaz Building” at Kalyanpur of Dhaka where nine militants were killed in a gun battle with law enforcers yesterday, was placed on a two-day remand today.

Metropolitan Magistrate Nurun Nahar Yasmin passed the order after Sub-inspector of Mipur Model Police Station Bozlar Rahman produced her before the court with a five-day remand prayer.

The court granted the remand suspecting Momtaz’s involvement with renting out a flat to the militants and for not providing police with information about their tenants, the SI said.

Earlier in the day, she was shown arrested under section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Nine militants were killed yesterday during a special drive of the joint forces in Kalyanpur, ending an overnight standoff that ensued with a raid to hunt down militant den.
