JAAGO Foundation’s youth wing Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD) announced the names of some of the noted personalities and others it will be honouring this year for their continuous services to the society.

The organisation has been honouring those who have made significant contributions to the society for the last six years.

This year the distinguished awardees included Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq, The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Dhaka Tribune Editor Zafar Sobhan, rights activists Khushi Kabir and Barrister Sara Hossain, says the foundation’s press release.

In a bid to show their gratitude to some of the heroes who are hardly thanked for their continuous service and dedication towards the society, JAAGO Foundation and Cold Stone Creamery Bangladesh Ltd jointly awarded the distinguished persons at “The Great Kindness Challenge 2016 (GKC16)” yesterday, the release said.

The GKC is a global campaign in which the everyday people in the society, who are employed in thankless professions, are thanked by the youths, to appreciate and inspire them for the noble works they do, very often sacrificing their personal priorities, the release added.

The GKC16 covered 18 districts and 600 volunteers from the local VDB chapters visited the local police officers, fire-fighters, journalists, civil servants, and other professionals to appreciate them with cards and flowers.
