ISKON meeting held in N'ganj

A religious discussion and rally was held at Nitaiganj area of Narayanganj on Thursday.

Members from over 50 countries including USA, England, and Canada joined the gathering organised by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).  

So far, ISKCON organised such programme in at least seven districts this year, said the organisers.

Speaking as a chief guest, Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy said, “People from different sects including Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Christian fought for the countries freedom. Everyone belongs to this country regardless of religion.”

Addressing the attendees she urged everyone to live in the city in harmony.

Cleric and religious leaders of ISKCON (Narayanganj unit) Hangsha Krisna Dash Brammha was also present at the programme.

The ISKCON, known colloquially as the Hare Krishna movement, is a Gaudiya Vaishnava Hindu religious organisation, founded in 1966 in New York City.

Their core beliefs are based on select traditional scriptures, particularly the Bhagavad-Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam.
