Innovation lab to open at DU

With an objective to address various social challenges, and to create and develop businesses through innovation, an innovation and incubation lab named “DU i-Lab” is going to open at Dhaka University (DU).

"The lab will work jointly with different stakeholders to establish an effective government-industry-university-development organisation's strategic partnership,” Md Rashedur Rahman, director of DU i-Lab, and an assistant professor of international business of DU, told The Daily Star.

He said the lab will also arrange competitions, training programmes and creativity festivals and publish a quarterly. DU i-Lab is inspired by the i-Lab of Harvard University, he said, adding, it will hopefully start from this June.

Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said, "This i-Lab will address issues and opportunities relating to economic growth and employment generation, environmental and social challenges improving the health care services, access to education..."
