Sexual Harassment at CU

Initial proof against teacher found

Sexual harassment allegations against the Chittagong University (CU) teacher have been found during primary investigation by CU authorities.

A three-member fact-finding committee, headed by Prof Gias Uddin Ahmed, was formed on November 18 to investigate the allegations against Prof ATM Rafiqul Hoque of Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (IFES).

IFES Director Prof Danesh Miah said the committee recorded depositions from more than 150 students, including that from the female students who brought allegations against the teacher, and submitted its report before the academic committee of the institute on Wednesday.

The report, containing 396 pages, will be submitted to the vice chancellor of the university for next course of action, he added.
