An Indonesian embassy official -- Siti Herwansyah -- died from fever this morning.

The 28-year-old had tested negative for Covid-19, said an official of the Indonesian embassy.

The administrative official of the embassy had fever for the last few days, but no cough or respiratory problems.

"Possibly, it was bacterial. We are yet not sure why she died," the official told The Daily Star today.

As Siti's condition deteriorated, she was moved to United Hospital early today, but was declared dead in less than an hour.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen expressed deep condolence over the death of the Indonesian official and conveyed sympathies to her bereaved family member.

The minister called the Indonesian Ambassador in Dhaka Rina P Soemarno and assured of any assistance required.
