Illegal brick kilns demolished, fined

The Department of Environment (DoE) demolished two illegal brick kilns and fined two others in Savar yesterday.

During the drive Power Brick Ltd and Sadia Brick Ltd were demolished but the owners -- Nurul Alom and Abdul Hai -- could not be arrested as they went into hiding, said DoE officials.

DoE officials also fined two other illegal brick kilns -- Razib Brick Ltd and Ashulia Brick Ltd -- Tk 2 lakh. 

Deputy Minister for Environment and Forests Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, DoE Director Md Alamgir and DoE Executive Magistrate Rukshana Rahman launched the drive assisted by police and Rab.
