Hit-and-run: Actor Kalyan’s car seized

Police today seized the private car of actor and model Kalyan Corraya that allegedly hit motorcycle of Bangla daily Prothom Alo’s chief photojournalist on Monday.

“The car has been seized from his [Kalyan’s] Tejgaon residence this morning,” Kalabagan Police Station’s duty officer Mahmudul Hasan told The Daily Star.

Photojournalist Zia Islam suffered severe injuries when the speedy car hit his motorcycle from behind in front of Bashundhara City in Panthapath Monday night.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and later shifted to Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday afternoon. He underwent a major surgery on that day and was kept under observation for 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Dhaka court yesterday allowed police to interrogate Kalyan at the jailgate for three days in connection with a case filed over the hit-and-run incident.
