Guard, youth found killed in capital

Police yesterday recovered the bodies of two men, including of a security guard, from the capital's Turag and Kotowali areas.

The guard, Shahabuddin, 35, was found killed with his throat slit and stab marks in the body, inside a guardroom built on a vacant plot of a private firm. He used to guard the plot enclosed by a brick boundary wall.

In the morning, locals saw blood coming out of the guardroom and then found him hanging inside the room, which was locked from outside, said police.

Mahbub-e-Khuda, officer-in-charge of Turag Police Station, said the victim was on duty alone on Saturday night.

The OC said unidentified miscreants killed Shahabuddin, of Shariatpur, with sharp weapons. "We are investigating the matter but have not got any clue yet," he said.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a team of Kotwali police recovered the body of an unidentified youth from the corridor of Old Dhaka's Akmal Khan Market, around 2:00pm yesterday.

Abul Hasan, OC of Kotwali Police Station, the youth was aged around 30, and had injury marks on the body.

"We don't know how the body got there. We are interrogating locals to get clues," he said.
