Five women honoured in Rangpur

Five women were selected as Joyeeta, a Bangla word for victorious woman, for their feats under five categories in Rangpur Division.

They are Merina Lovely (education and employment), Shilpi Begum of Rangpur (successful entrepreneur), Shanti Kuzur of Dinajpur (successful mother), Bizoli Begum of Lalmonirhat (prevention of repression on women), Nur Banu of Thakurgaon (social development).

Advocate Hose Ara Lutfa Dalia, a lawmaker, handed over the crests, certificates and cheques among the five at the auditorium of Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service (RDRS) on Wednesday.

The programme was organised by Rangpur Divisional Administration and the Department of Women Affairs.

Shahin Ahmed Chowdhury, director general of the department; and Abdul Awal, deputy commissioner of Thakurgaon; Divisional Commissioner of Rangpur Kazi Hasan Ahmed were present among others.
