Five 'muggers' held with firearms

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested five alleged muggers with firearms in Oxygen area in Chittagong city on Thursday night.

A Rab-7 patrol team intercepted a car and a motorbike on Oxygen Bangabandhu Avenue and arrested Md Jeved, Morshed Alam, Shamim Hossain, Jahedul Alam, and Md Mamun with two pistols, said a press release.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they were planning to mug someone. Based on their information, the Rab team later recovered a one-barrel gun and two machetes from adjacent areas, it added.
