Five killed in three dists

Five people were killed and seven others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.

Our Barisal correspondent reports, two women were killed and two others injured as a bus and a three-wheeler collided head-on in Rayerhut area of Banaripara upazila.

The deceased are Nupur Aktar, 32, wife of Kabir Howlader; and Fatema Begum, 35, wife of Zahirul Islam.

Sazzad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Banaripara Police Station, said the injured were admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal.

Our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports, a truck driver and his helper were killed and five labourers injured as the vehicle and a bus collided on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Darikandi bus stand area of Belabo upazila in Narsingdi.

The dead are Saddam Hossain, 35, the trucker, son of Motaleb Hossain from Chuadanga; and Sarwar Mia, 20, the helper, son of Manjed Molla from the same district.

Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, a girl was killed as a microbus hit her while she was crossing Dinajpur-Gobindaganj road in Laxmipur area of Phulbari upazila.

The deceased is Sheuli, 7, daughter of Sumon.
