Five 'abductors' held in capital

Police on Sunday arrested nine alleged criminals, including five abductors, at different places in the capital and also rescued a victim from their captivity.

The abductors are Abdul Gofur and Golam Md Chowdhury, former lance corporal and former sergeant of Bangladesh Army respectively, Azad Hossain alias Rokon, Shohanoor Alam and Sanaullah, said Biplob Kumar Sarker, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon Division, at a press briefing yesterday.

On Thursday, Gofur with his accomplices kidnapped his business partner Mokhlesur Rahman from Adabor and demanded Tk 30 lakh as ransom from his family. Police rescued Mokhlesur from a house in Turag following a case filed by the victim family.

Besides, police during several drives arrested a thief, two carjackers and a mugger, and recovered two stolen motorcycles and two cars.
