Fire at Hatirpool’s Motalib Plaza doused

The fire that broke out at Hatirpool’s Motalib Plaza in capital Dhaka this morning was doused after two hours of frantic efforts of the firefighters.

The fire broke out at the fourth floor of Motalib Plaza around 9:45am, Abdur Rahman, duty officer of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, told The Daily Star.

Twelve units of firefighters extinguished the flames at 11:50am, Ataur Rahman, another duty officer of the fire service said. No casualty was reported in the fire.

The fourth floor of Motalib Plaza is a commercial space rented out to mobile phone shops. The high-rise has the first four floors rented as commercial space and the remaining residential flats.
