Demra shoe factory fire under control

A fire that broke out at a shoe factory in Demra of Dhaka was brought under control this afternoon.

No casualty was reported in the fire that originated from the sparks of fire during welding works, Somendro Nath Biswas, deptuy director (Dhaka) of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, told The Daily Star quoting locals.

A total of 11 firefighting units brought the fire under control nearly three hours after it broke out at the tin-shed factory on Samad Road around 11:20am.

The firefighters, however, are yet to douse the flames inside the wide ground-floor room when the report was filed around 5:30pm, the fire service official said.
