A fifth accused arrested in Ctg

Police arrested another accused in connection with the killing of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Sudipto Biswas, in the port city on Wednesday.

The arrestee, Rubel Dey, a postgraduate student at Chittagong University, was “one of the conspirators” of the murder, said Nezam Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sadarghat Police Station.

On information, police arrested Rubel in Panchlaish area around 11:00pm, he said.

Police produced him before a Chittagong court with a 10-day remand prayer yesterday, he added.

The court sent Rubel to jail and adjourned the remand hearing till March 4.

Sudipto Biswas, an assistant secretary of Chittagong city unit BCL, was killed in Chittagong city on October 6 last year.

Police so far arrested five people over the murder, said Nezam, adding, of them, two gave confessional statements before a Chittagong court and implicated Rubel.
