Female college teacher found dead

A female college teacher was found dead at her residence in Taherpur municipality of Rajshahi's Bagmara upazila yesterday.

Shamsunnahar, 33, was a teacher of Islamic history at Taherpur Degree College.

“She was lying on a bed... ,” said Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station.

No sign of torture or attack was found in her body, he said, citing the inquest report.

Police detained her husband Saiful Islam, 40, a businessman and convenor of the municipality unit of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal.

Quoting the husband, the OC said following an argument between the couple the previous night, the husband left the house.

On Thursday morning, Saiful called her younger daughter, who was at a relative's house, to go home to check her mother's wellbeing.

Upon arrival, she found the gate locked. Later, other relatives came and discovered Shamsunnahar dead.
