Farmer killed in clash over land in Tangail

A farmer was killed and his nephew injured by his rivals during a clash over land demarcation at Bhuapur upazila in Tangail yesterday.

At one stage of the clash between two groups, one led by Abdul Mazid and another by Nawsher Ali, 55, Mazid hit the latter at Nikla Gopal village in Aloa union, with a spade.

He was taken to Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead.

Nawsher's relatives and supporters later vandalised Mazid's house. Bhuapur police detained Mazid, his wife Rahima Khatun and son Abdur Rahim.
