‘Extortion by sergeant’: Court orders judicial probe

A Dhaka court today ordered a judicial enquiry into an extortion case filed against a sergeant of Motijheel traffic (East Zone).

Earlier in the day, Supreme Court lawyer Sheikh Shariful Islam filed the case against Sergeant Selim with the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur.

According to the plaintiff, Sergeant Selim halted his motorbike near Shapla Chattar in Dhaka on May 4 and demanded Tk 2,000 in bribe even after Shariful showed him all valid documents.
