A journalist was found dead at his residence in Dhaka’s Pallabi area this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Shafiul Alam Raza, former chief reporter of Bangla online news portal Priyo.com and also a popular Bhawaiya singer, reports our staff correspondent.

Raza, who used to live alone at the house, returned home late around 3:30 am last night, said Imranul Islam, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station.

His housemaid came at noon and knocked on the door for a long time without any response from inside. Then, she informed the neighbours who contacted police in this regard, the OC said.

Police later broke open the door of the house and recovered Raza’s body, the police official said.

Raza has not been in touch with his wife for last one year, the OC added.

He was also a former journalist of Bangla daily newspapers Jugantor and Dainik Orthoniti, an enlisted singer of Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar, and the director of Kalatan, a music school in Pallabi.
