Ex-AL leader Raqib dies

Sharif Abdur Raqib, president of Jessore district bar association, died at Apollo Hospitals in the capital on Thursday. He was 63.

Raqib, also a former general secretary of district unit Awami League, was kept on life support, said his wife Aleya Afroze, a former lawmaker. He left behind his wife and two daughters.

He was also the president of Rights Jessore, a human rights organisation.

He was buried at Karbal graveyard in Jessore yesterday following a namaz-e-janaza at Jessore Eidgah after the Juma prayers.
