City Corporation Elections 2015 ; 10 Ccc Mayor Aspirants

Ending waterlogging, traffic jam top priority

Apart from the two Awami League (AL) and BNP backed mayor candidates of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) polls, the remaining 10 are also campaigning with ending waterlogging and traffic congestion topping their list of promises on providing modern civic amenities.

Jatiya Party supported Md Solaiman Alam Seth,campaigning in Bauchara and Oxygen areas yesterday, also pledged fighting terrorism, extortion and illegal drugs.

“I have also plans to establish city government system, bring schools and colleges under wi-fi and establish a garment village for garment workers,” he told The Daily Star.

Syed Sajjad Joha also plans increased coordination among organisations like Chittagong Development Authority (CDA), Chittagong District Administration and WASA and working on rights issues like ending torture on

 women and children.

Independent candidate Gazi Md Alauddin envisioned a modern city like Singapore, a corruption-free and accountable CCC administration and proper healthcare services.

Bangladesh Nationalist Front backed Arif Moinuddin says his plans include increasing the number of public toilets and making footpaths friendly for pedestrians. 

Campaigning at Dakkhin Patenga area around 2:45pm yesterday, Sunni Nagorik Oikya Parishad supported MA Motin promised a clean and “digital” city and generating employment for youths of financially insolvent families.

Islamic Front Bangladesh supported Hossain Mohammad Mujibul Huq talked of creating a green and modern city.

Islami Andolon, Bangladesh backed Md Wayes Hossain Bhuiyan seeks to work towards a corruption-free CCC and providing modern healthcare facilities to the financially insolvent.

“I have a plan to build up an advisory council comprising officials of different organisations,” said Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal supported Mohammad Shafiul Alam, adding that he also intends on rehabilitating slum dwellers.

Independent candidate Saifuddin Ahmed sought to first make people conscious. “That will be much helpful for me,” he said.

Another independent candidate Md Abul Kalam Azad emphasised ensuring cleanliness and providing education.
