Empower women for a better world

Zonta District-25 confce told

With a call to end violence against women and children, the three-day 14th biennial regional conference of the Zonta District-25 ended in the capital yesterday.

The theme of this year's conference was “We Dare to Dream”. Zonta District-25 comprises Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

At the event, rights activist Khushi Kabir and Zonta District Foundation Ambassador and social activist Dilruba Ahmed were honoured with “Life Time Achievement Awards” for their contributions to ending discrimination in the society.

Prime Minister's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi, the chief guest at the event, said women's equal participation in all sectors must be ensured.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki said women can reach their full potential if they have access to all the resources and have decision-making power.

Zonta International Representative and Board Liaison and Director Hsin-Hsin Yang stressed the need for empowering women to make the world a better place.

Zonta District-25 Governor Fahmida Karim said Zonta will enhance its support to Rohingya women and children.

Members of different Zonta clubs in Bangladesh were present in the event.

Founded in 1919, Zonta International, is a global organisation of executives and professionals working together to empower women worldwide through service and advocacy in 66 countries with 30,000 members.
