Eminent citizens urge govt to send Akhtar abroad for treatment

Seventy-six eminent personalities have urged the government to send renowned child littérateur Akhtar Hussain abroad for better treatment.

Akhtar is diagnosed with prostate gland cancer.

In a press release, the personalities, including Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman, Chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Selina Hossain and Director General of Bangla Academy Dr Shamsuzzaman Khan, also mentioned that further treatment abroad can cure Akhtar but he is not able to bear the expenses.

Around 40 books of Akhtar have been published so far. Of those, Bangabandhuke Niye Lekha Chhotogolpo, Dui Banglar Kobitay Bangabandhu, Dui Banglar Kobitay Muktijuddha and Ramdhonuker Sako got popularity.
