In purview of protests and demands of re-election to Dhaka Unviersity Central Students’ Union (Ducsu), the university’s vice chancellor has said that the code will be followed now.

“We must follow the rules,” Vice Chancellor Md Akhteruzzaman told The Daily Star today on query whether there is a scope of a re-election to Ducsu as per demands from all sides.

“The election is over. The results are out. We must follow democratic procedures and the Ducsu code,” he told The Daily Star in avoidance of a direct answer to the question.

His comments come in the purview of all major participating panels demanding a re-election to Ducsu in rejection of the elections held yesterday.

Ruling party’s front Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has denounced the VP-elect quota reformist leader Nurul Haque Nur, demanding a re-election to this post.

The other major panels of leftists, quota reformists and independents are demanding a re-election alleging irregularities of the election. They are also demanding the VC’s removal.
