Wari girl rape, murder: Prime suspect confesses to crime

Harun Or Rashid, the prime suspect in a case filed over killing Samia Afrin Saima after rape, has confessed that he murdered the seven-year-old girl after rape so that she cannot disclose his identity.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansary recorded his statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after Detective Branch of police produced him before his chamber today.

After recording his statement, he was sent to jail, our court correspondent reports.

Detectives arrested the suspect in Cumilla yesterday after a rape case filed with Wari Police Station.

After arrest, he disclosed to the detectives that he on Friday took Samia Afrin Saima to the roof of the eight-storey building, saying that he would show her the view and raped the seven-year-old child inside an empty flat.

When the girl passed out, he strangled her with a rope and dragged the body to the kitchen.

The suspect used to reside at his cousin Parvez’s family at their flat on the seventh floor of the building, where the victim's family lives.
