Dhaka University students have rejected the proctor’s assurance of forming a probe committee to investigate Monday’s “Chhatra League attack” on them.

The students demanded formation of the committee within 24 hours and a report in seven days, our DU correspondent reports from the spot.

Till last reported, the protesters have taken position in front of the DU vice chancellor’s office.

They also are demanding expulsion of the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student front of ruling Awami League, who foiled their sit-in on Monday.

The BCL men on that day dragged one of the coordinators of the protesters inside the vice-chancellor's office and roughed him up. They also took away his mobile phone and money.

Earlier in the day, they demonstrated in front of the office of Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani who gave assurance that those found guilty would be punished.

The BCL activists on Monday foiled a sit-in programme of the students demanding scrapping the university’s affiliation with seven other colleges.

In protest, the students formed a human chain in front of the Aprajeyo Bangla and brought out a procession on the campus in favour of their demand in the morning.
