Mohakhali road crash: Bus driver held

Police today arrested the driver of a bus in connection with a road accident which claimed the life of a pedestrian near Mohakhali flyover in Dhaka around a month back.

The arrestee was identified as Md Shamim Soiyal, 20, Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch of police (north) Mashiur Rahman told The Daily Star.

On information, police conducted a drive in Mohakhali Bus Stand area and arrested Shamim around 8:30am, the official said.

On August 5, Farha Naz, mother of a 13-month-old child, was killed in Mohakhali area after a bus ran her over when she was waiting to cross the road.

Farha was sent to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The victim’s husband filed a case with Banani Police Station on the same day.
