Dhaka Judge suspended for ‘undermining CJ’

The law ministry today suspended Additional District and Sessions Judge of Dhaka Md Jewel Rana for committing gross misconduct by making arrogant, discourteous, indecent and unrestrained allegations against the chief justice through writing an application to the president.

ASSM Zahirul Haque, secretary to the law and justice division of the law ministry, issued a gazette notification suspending Jewel Rana under the advice of the Supreme Court.

Jewel Rana was also attached to the law ministry.

Filing a departmental case against him is under process as allegation has been raised against Jewel Rana of committing misconduct by undermining the members of SC’s general administration committee, according to the notice.

His application contains arrogant, discourteous, indecent, and unrestrained accusation against the chief justice, states the notification.

Jewel Rana was suspended under rule 11(1) of Government Servant (discipline and appeal) Rules, 1985 and he will get subsistence allowance during the suspension period.
