Glitch in PM's plane

Dhaka court now fixes October 30 for probe report submission

A Dhaka court yesterday again asked the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police to submit by October 30 the probe report of the case filed over a technical glitch in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s flight.

The order came after Mahbub Alam, an inspector of CTTC and investigation officer of the case, failed to submit any probe report yesterday.

With this, the IO has taken six dates for submitting the report.

On July 26, the same court fixed September 17 (yesterday) for the report submission.

The VVIP flight carrying Hasina made an emergency landing on November 27 last year at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan after a loose nut had caused leakage of engine oil, lowering the oil pressure of engine no-1 of the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Later, on December 21, Wing Commander (retd) MM Asaduzzaman, director of engineering and material management of Biman, filed the case against nine employees under the Special Powers Act with Airport Police Station.

All the nine officials were sent to jail when they surrendered before a Dhaka court seeking bail in the case. Two more officials were also arrested later. All the accused are now in jail.
